Licensed Practical Nurse Overview:

  • Location: Waukee, IA
  • Position: Licensed Practical Nurse
  • Shift: First Shift (6a-2p) and Second Shift (2p-10p)
  • Job Type: Full Time

Position Summary:

The LPN is responsible for the care of long term/SNF residents on an assigned shift by delivering a 1440 experience, optimizing performance, and leading employee connections within our community.

Required Experience:

  • Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in the state.
  • Minimum of five years nursing experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to communicate effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to problem solve.

Other Key Responsibilities:

  • Respond to resident requests in a timely and friendly manner.
  • Maintain confidentiality with all resident information.
  • Perform appropriate diagnostic tests in clinic as ordered by the physician, such as urinalysis, finger stick blood sugar tests, and stool guaiacs.
  • Regulate and adjust medication and treatments per consultations with physician, monitoring closely for adverse side effects.
  • Assist and administer medications as ordered.
  • Participate in formal and informal resident teaching activities aimed at promoting positive health practices and an understanding of the individual’s medical issue(s).
  • Assist with the ongoing therapeutic management of stable long-term health problems in the chronically ill elderly.
  • Maintain adequate first aid supplies.
  • Follow safe lifting practices, per policy.
  • Treat all residents with respect.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
